Working in the UAE: Visa, Salary and Job Guide
The UAE is one of the largest employers of overseas workers, with strong demand in construction, hospitality, healthcare, logistics, retail and technology. Most jobs are in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
Your employer sponsors your work permit and residence visa. After arrival you complete a medical test and biometrics, and receive an Emirates ID that you will need for banking, housing and phone contracts.

Frequently asked questions
Who arranges the UAE work visa?
Your employer applies for your work permit through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) and then for your residence visa. You should not pay for these yourself.
Is salary taxed in the UAE?
There is no personal income tax on salaries in the UAE. VAT applies to most purchases.
How much annual leave do workers get in the UAE?
Under the UAE labour law, full-time employees are entitled to 30 days of paid annual leave per year after completing one year of service.
What is end-of-service gratuity in the UAE?
Private sector employees who complete at least one year of continuous service earn a gratuity of 21 days' basic salary for each of the first five years, and 30 days' basic salary for each additional year.
Do I have to pay to get a job in the UAE?
No genuine employer should ask you for money for a job offer or a visa. In the Gulf countries the employer normally pays the recruitment, visa and work permit costs. Be careful of anyone who asks for a "processing fee" or "visa fee" before you have a written offer.
Which documents do I need to work in the UAE?
Usually a passport valid for at least six months, passport photos, your educational and experience certificates (often attested), a medical fitness test and sometimes a police clearance certificate. Indian passport holders with ECR status also need emigration clearance through the eMigrate portal.
